Merry Christmas

Bideford Xmas2012 © Bert Bruins
Our Christmas wishes go out to all of our members, supporters and followers. Thanks to Bert Bruins for the picture.

2012 has been an exciting year for Bideford Bay Creatives.

We started in January with the completion of our AONB Sustainable Development Fund sponsored Photographic Project, introducing young people and the general public to photography on our wild North Devon beaches in partnership with Young Devon, Devon Youth Services and Seize the Moment. In June we were very active at Appledore Visual Arts Festival where we made a Pop-up Artists Studio, at Susie’s Cafe and led Banner Making Workshops. In July we were instrumental in the success of Art Trek claiming our patch (Bideford, Northam, Appledore, Westward Ho! and the adjoining parishes) as the creative centre of North Devon. The summer also saw the streets of Bideford lined with further Lamp post Banners commissioned by Bideford Town Council.

Also, from May until September we pressed on with Bideford’s First Fridays, in partnership with Froot Loop and Blazey’s Cafe. Despite the cold temperatures and the heavens opening on all but one of our First Fridays, the big idea has grown. Bideford had, and still has, something to look forward to on the First Friday of every month!

Thanks to continued support from Appledore Arts Festival, Bideford Bridge Trust, Torridge District Council and Bideford Town Council, local Councilors, supporters and patrons BBC will continue to proactively promote the arts in the Bideford area in 2013 and promote the arts of the Bideford area outside of the region.

A photographic artist who has built up a unique vision of the world through his digitally constructed images. None of his photographs are simply photographs; most of them are made from up to 100 separate images layered, like strata, on top of each other to build up an impression of what it is like to be in a place, giving the viewer far more than a visual experience.
