A new beginning for Way of the Wharves

After a very successful 3 years, under Bideford Bay Creatives management, the Way of the Wharves Project has grown it’s own wings! The enthusiastic and resilient WotW volunteers have taken ownership of the project and plan to create their own constituted group. The Project was initiated by BBC after a successful grant award by the Peoples Health Trust in December 2015. Sadie Green managed the project for BBC through it’s first 2 years. After another successful grant award, this time from the Heritage Lottery Fund, in November 2017 Anthony Burt took over the project management. Through its first 3 years the project has amassed 62 oral histories, researched, designed and printed a Heritage Trail Guide, ran workshops in schools and produced a Teachers resource Pack, researched and written a timeline of Bideford’s Wharves from pre-history up to the present, and had a stainless steel information panel made for the Bideford’s quayside wall. BBC will continue a good relationship with WotW offering our guidance and assistance through this transition period. We hope to work together in partnership projects in the future. We wish them well!

A photographic artist who has built up a unique vision of the world through his digitally constructed images. None of his photographs are simply photographs; most of them are made from up to 100 separate images layered, like strata, on top of each other to build up an impression of what it is like to be in a place, giving the viewer far more than a visual experience.
