Bideford Bay Creatives: Janis Glover

Passionate about the patterns and marks in the Devon landscape and its' coastline, I paint draw and sculpt from my studio by the sea. I work from the figure and am inspired by its' landscape qualities and colours. Experienced in taking workshops and groups in schools, I exhibit locally and across the country.

I enjoy working to commission and use a range of media, small and large scale. Often found sitting on a deserted beach or bleak moor I am just as happy drawing life from the seat of a bus!!

My solo exhibition last year was devoted to Dartmoor and I have recently completed a series on Lundy Island. The BA Hons in Fine Art from Birmingham Uni was a major point in my artistic career but my artistic beginnings were small (a very simple still life of a bowl of fruit. I was 8. I still have that picture!!) My next paintings will focus on the simplicity of the still life in our lives.

As a member of North Devon Arts for several years I have participated in regular exhibitions at Broomhill Sculpture Park and take part in Art Trek and Devon Open Studios.
