Public Art in Culture Show featuring 7th Pencil

Mel Saggs, aka 7th Pencil, has made 2x new murals for Bideford for Culture Show 2015. The first is on the wall next to Cafe Collective on Grenville St, the second on the building still known as DJ’s Bar on Cooper Street. This has led to a third commissioned by Chatterbox cafe on Cooper St and is on the wall opposite. This work takes a lot of time from the concept to stencil making, to preparing then surface then day’s of painting with spray can, brush and pen.

Mel’s murals on Cooper Street will be featured in Tales of the Riverbank: Art Trail on Saturday Sept 19th.

A photographic artist who has built up a unique vision of the world through his digitally constructed images. None of his photographs are simply photographs; most of them are made from up to 100 separate images layered, like strata, on top of each other to build up an impression of what it is like to be in a place, giving the viewer far more than a visual experience.
