Free Photo Workshops

BBC are offering some free photography workshops based around the yearly calendar of events that happen in Bideford. The workshops, led by a qualified and experienced photography teacher, comprise of a practical session learning to gain control over your camera, shutter speeds, aperture, ISO, flash etc, setting it up for optimum quality under any given lighting, and making better pictures through composition. The first workshop is set for Bideford Heritage Day, Saturday 28th June. You’ll need to email BBC to book your place!

Starting at 10am at Café Du Parc (please bring money for drinks), you’ll learn to use your camera better and through instruction and experience learn how best to document an event. From 11am in Victoria Park you’ll witness Man to Man Combat and Jousting through your camera lens. After a review of the shoot there will be the opportunity to photograph Pirates, Falconry, Archers, a historical Field ‘Hospital’ and Craft making in Victoria Park. Time will also be spent photographing events happening in the Town Centre including a Medieval Banquet, Georgian Lunches, Traditional Street Games, World War Tea Parties, a Traditional Shoe Shiner and a Coronation Celebration. Your photographs will be reviewed and assessed throughout the day.

You’ll be encouraged to make your pictures available to be used by Bideford Town Council to promote this event in the future; you will of course be credited for your photographs.

A photographic artist who has built up a unique vision of the world through his digitally constructed images. None of his photographs are simply photographs; most of them are made from up to 100 separate images layered, like strata, on top of each other to build up an impression of what it is like to be in a place, giving the viewer far more than a visual experience.
