Sue Russell

Sue Russell’s love of vibrant colours and textiles shines through her work which ranges from teaching arts and crafts to attending Carnivals across the country. She is founder of the carnival arts group Flying Colours.

Sue Russell celebrates her passion for colour, pattern and design in her work that ranges from teaching art and craft to carnival arts. As an artist in residence at Beaford Arts she designs and constructs large scale carnival costumes that are showcased at events such as St Paul’s Carnival, Cardiff Mas and Weymouth Moving Tides.

Following her exhibition in Henley on Thames Sue is now in the process of producing a body of work consisting of large vibrant paintings and exotic textile pieces that will be exhibited in a joint exhibition with artist Kim Jones titled Adventures at Highcliffe Castle this summer.

Sue’s vast teaching experience spreads over two decades, teaching in schools and on community projects across the South West and further afield, lecturing at Petroc for over 8 years working within supported learning and also delivering the first NCFE course in Carnival Arts. Sue founded the carnival group Flying Colours producing fantastic New Year events in Bideford and bringing a new and exciting flavour to carnival across the region.
