I’m most happiest when being creative and making, a day at the beach is most inspiring, whatever the weather. Sometimes the stormiest blustery day is the most interesting, the changes in the sea from dark to light. Watching a storm blowing across hitting the rugged cliffs and sea worn stone cottages.
I’ll happily string beads and sew appliqué and make felt, these tasks are part of my part time job, organising a small craft workshop as a Support worker in mental health.
Since I was small I sold hand-sewn jewellery in my father’s antique shop; this also engaged me with allsorts of people and characters, which has made me feel confident and want to help or work with people. I’ve curated exhibitions and run an art gallery in North Cornwall.
I currently place my work in a couple of local galleries, a hallway in a leisure centre and have done the odd wall mural.
I studied at Hereford Art College, it was fantastic and I’d recommend it to anyone! I studied Design Crafts for 3 years. However I was surrounded by hills, countryside and industry so this taught me I’d never live very far from the sea out of choice.
I’m confident working with people, I like people but not keen on rude ones. My work has been described as childlike or naïve before. I don’t have any children but they can make me laugh!
