Albert Duplock

Albert Duplock

I was born in Sunderland and studied at Sunderland and the Royal College of Art. I am keen on drawing and it is the foundation of all my pictures. My work is allegorical. I like to weave layers of colour and subplots into a simple image. The Southwest landscape, music, dance, the figure, comics and fairy stories provide inspiration.

I love telling stories in my work and try to create pieces that are full of detail and rhythm. I am fascinated by the way people stand and gather together to celebrate whether on the beach, at a festival or sports event creating patterns and energy.

I work in a variety of mediums depending on the needs of the picture e.g. watercolour, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, pen & ink and woodcut.

I have exhibited widely in the Southwest and have had many one-man shows.

I have lectured in art colleges, run a screen-print workshop, a card business, artist workshops and a gallery with two partners.
