Four BBC artists are delivering art sessions on batik, photography, pottery, and monoprinting this half-term, week beginning Monday 24th October. Even though the kids are off school the workshops are designed for a large age range and certainly not just for the under 16’s.

To start the week on Monday 2.30-4.30 you can learn about your own digital camera at Dave Green’s free workshop for 14 years+. He will introduce you to the mysteries of photography; Aperture, shutter speeds, iso, file type and size, quality, and compression. The session starts outside Walter Henry’s bookshop and Ozzy’s Hairdressers where Dave will introduce you to his photographs; then onto Gertie’s Café for the actual Camera workshop. Please bring your camera which needs to have some manual settings and buy a drink there to support the free use of the space.  To book a place phone Dave on 01237 477789 or email: info@greengallery.co.uk Booking Essential!

On Wednesday 26th, Janet Jopson will run a Batik workshop where you can learn Batik and the effects made with brightly coloured dyes and hot wax on fabric and paper.  A competed artwork will be made in 2 hours for just £5 (to cover the material costs)  The session starts at 10am and ends at 12.30pm at her studio, 119 Bay View Road, Northam.  The art workshop is for 14 years upwards and only for four people so booking is essential.  Telephone 01237 421344 or email jopson@tinyworld.co.uk.

A photographic artist who has built up a unique vision of the world through his digitally constructed images. None of his photographs are simply photographs; most of them are made from up to 100 separate images layered, like strata, on top of each other to build up an impression of what it is like to be in a place, giving the viewer far more than a visual experience.
